Teen Talent on Display in May!

Just a reminder that our Third Annual Talent Show is on May 12 at 6:30 PM!  Every year, teens have featured their talents and every year it’s been a FANTASTIC time for all involved. Several teens have even gotten standing ovations!

Can you paint? Draw? Take photographs? Create dioramas? Sing? Dance? Write a story? Tell a story? Play an instrument? Gargle the “Star Spangled Banner” while juggling lemurs? Whatever your talent, you have two weeks to polish it and get it ready!

If you need the use of a computer, electrical outlets, etc., just let me know and we’ll do what we can!

Remember: May 12! See you then!

Wildcard Book Discussion Tonight: “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”

Wow! I was gone a LONG time, but I’m back now, and just in time, because tonight the teen wildcards visit the psych ward!

Well, after a fashion … since tonight we’ll be discussing It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. Hopefully you will join us tonight at 6:30 p.m. to discuss this gem of a novel!

See you tonight!

Fantasy Game a Hit – Run Your Own!

Last week, the Wildcards had a great time playing in an impromptu one-shot fantasy game. For those of  you who are interested, the game engine / system we used is called Risus, and you can downloaded it for free at their website. The base system is six pages long. Seriously–a whole ton of gaming goodness and versatility in just six pages. In fact the entire rules set fits on a coffee mug. How cool is that?! (Not plugging this item, mind you, but I thought it was too cool not to show.)

Try out the game for yourselves–all you need are the rules, some pencils, paper, six-sided dice, and your imagination. And feel free to post here and tell me all about it!
