Library Cards
Possibly the most confusing thing about using a public library
is knowing whether or not you qualify for a card. As DeKalb
Public Library is supported by taxes paid to the City of DeKalb, it is necessary
that those wishing to obtain a library card either reside within
the DeKalb city limits or meet other conditions. If you come
to the library for a card, it is important that you bring two
forms of identification, one of which verifies your current
address. A driver's license with your current
address would meet both criteria. If you have any questions,
please call 756-9568 and we will be happy to assist you.
The following describes the different
types of library cards we offer:

have verification of their residency. Taxes are paid to the DeKalb Public
Library.

within the DeKalb city limits. Taxes are paid to the DeKalb Public Library.
Family Fee Cards:

qualify as reciprocal borrowers may purchase a card for an annual fee of $65 per family in
lieu of taxes.
Renter's Fee Cards:

within the DeKalb school district, an individual renter’s fee for use of the library is $25.00.

reciprocal borrowing or who purchase a Northern Illinois Library System
Family Fee card
in lieu of taxes. Taxes are paid to another library. |
