Our summer endowment fund drive features three events. The Evening of Poetry with Lucien Stryk on April 19th was a great success.
We now have two more events: Music in the Stacks and An Afternoon with Elizabeth Berg (July 12, 2008).
Last year we started Music in the Stacks and we had so much fun that we are expanding our offerings and continuing our partnership with Eduardo’s Restaurant. On Friday evenings, the library will have
live music and an opportunity to purchase refreshments. The live music this year will feature the DeKalb High School musicians, the middle school musicians, Emily Palmer, Tim Lockman, Jim Green, Ken Ward,
and Greg Boerner. Schedules will be available at the library and on our web site, www.dkpl.org. Cost is $7.50 and all proceeds benefit the endowment fund.
Elizabeth Berg will be the speaker at a lunch on July 12, 2008 at Barsema Visitor’s Center at 12:30. Tickets are $30.00 including lunch or $20.00 without lunch. This popular author has an Oprah selection
Open House as well as many other New York Times bestsellers. She is an entertaining speaker and will also do a book signing. Tickets are on sale now at the library. All endowment fund payouts will purchase materials for the library.
Crime Fiction Book Club. This year we are reading modern British authors who are exploring the crime fiction genre. In May we will read Lonely Hearts by John Harvey. Everyone is always
welcome at the book clubs. The only requirement is a love of reading!
