Outreach Program / Special
Services
Library service to the homebound is a free delivery program
for DeKalb residents who are confined to their homes because of
physical limitations, no matter their ages.
If you are homebound, you are eligible to receive library
materials on a regular schedule, usually bi-weekly. The
library's Outreach coordinator will deliver books, magazines,
videos, and books on tape or CD to your door and pick up those
you've finished. She will take requests for other items you
would like to borrow. Any of the library's regular
circulating collection is available to you, large print as well
as regular print. You also may borrow items through our
interlibrary loan system. Home delivery also is available
for short-term illness and accident patients. Books and
magazines on cassette for children and adults are available from
the Library of Congress to anyone who cannot use regular
print materials. Please call for further information on this
program. If you know anyone who would benefit from the
services provided by the Outreach Program, please contact the
Outreach coordinator at 815-756-9568, extension 300. A very
large collection of large print books is available and is being
added to continually. Our library offers:
-
wheelchair accessible entrances in both the youth and adult
departments
- magnified online access catalog (OPAC)
- books and information for caregivers
- books on tape or CD
- TTY service (815-756-6553)
