Book Club Selections

The DeKalb Public Library sponsors four book clubs. One is Crime Fiction, second is General Books,  third is TAG, and fourth is Destination Wonder. The Crime Fiction Book Club Meets the Last Monday (7:00 p.m.) and Tuesday (10:00 a.m.) of each month. The General Book club will meet on the second Monday and Tuesday of the month, Sepetember - May. TAG will meet on the first Thursday(6:30 p.m.) of every month. While Destination Wonder will meet on the first Wednesday(7:00 p.m.) of every month. Click here for a more information.

TAG Decides the Fate of a Monster

Steve Harmon is on trial for murder. As he muses over the events that led him to this juncture, the reader will decide if he’s innocent or if he is indeed what the prosecution called him: a monster.

At our next meeting, on Thursday, August 6, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., the Teen Advisory Group will read Monster, an award-winning novel by Walter Dean Myers, Refreshments are provided--all you have to do is show up and have fun! Destination Wonder Takes Aim with Kushiel’s Dart in August.

In a nation populated by the descendents of angels, a young girl marked from birth serves as courtesan and spy and uncovers a deadly intrigue that reaches to the highest seats of power.

On Wednesday, August 5, at 7:00 p.m., we will discuss Kushiel’s Dart, a delightful and subtle blend of fantasy, political intrigue and erotica by Jacqueline Carey. Please join us! Refreshments are provided--all you have to do is attend and enjoy the journey as we explore the furthest reaches of space, the remotest worlds of magic, and the darkest regions of nightmare!

Anime Alliance!

Do you like anime, Japanese animation? Do you know somebody who does? If so, then come join our Anime Alliance, the DeKalb Public Library anime club for teens!

This month we’ll be watching D.Gray-Man!.
Exorcist Allen Walker is humanity’s last hope against the forces of darkness. With his eye that sees true evil and a demon-slaying arm, he protects us from our worst nightmares.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Every month features something new and different to enjoy! We’ll even provide snacks! But be warned--we can only accommodate up to twenty (20) teens, so you must sign up ahead of time!

Basic Internet Class

The DeKalb Public Library will start Basic Internet classes in January. These will be hands-on, one-on-one classes conducted by the Reference department.
Every Thursday from 2-4 p.m., one of the library staff will be available to teach the classes. These will be in the format of three one-hour classes, and we encourage participants to sign up for all three.
The first class will be the use of the mouse and keyboard, the second will be Internet searching and the third will be e-mail.
